01

I have items to donate.Where do I bring them?

In an effort to gather donations from the community there are several “Pay It Forward” events. These occasions take place all over the Capital Region and are scheduled now up until our main event (location and date tba) The purpose of these events is to encourage women to come out for some fun festivities and have a chance to drop off their pre-loved items while taking in a local business specials. These community events are being booked at least once a month and can be found under "events" on our website and Facebook page.

We also have designated drop off locations where you may drop off your donations with ease. Please click here to be taken to this location on the website:

Don't forget to download your donation sheet to record your donations for your records.

02

What items are acceptable for donation?

We will graciously accept almost anything a woman would wear! We welcome any season, style and size at this time for a woman. Please remember that these items collected are not for women in need. These items will be sold to the public and the proceeds will be provided to the non profit, Wellspring which supports indivudals in dire need. Therefore, please make sure they items you consider donating are ones that are in such great condition that you would buy today!

Items that are desired include shoes, accessories, handbags, jackets, workout clothes and all other apparel.  Please refrain from donating the following unless new and in its packaging and/or has tags: underwear; bras; sock; and tights/nylons. Please kindly do not donate t-shirts and or sweatshirts from school events or fundraisers.

03

Do I have to dry clean items before donating them?

We do not require items to be dry cleaned but we do ask that they be thoroughly inspected and very clean.

As you gather your items, please kindly take the time to inspect each piece.  Often we get use to seeing our things and we may not notice details. Remember that to another woman, this will be a new addition to her closet. All care to ensure the best presentation is greatly appreciated and saves time and energy for our volunteers helping out with this event.

Please double check that there are no personal belongings in pockets as well as no deodorant markings, tears, stains, rips or odors.

Please provide your donations in a box or a bag with handles. Please refrain from using garbage bags.

04

Do my donations need to be on hangers?

Your donations do not need to be presented on hangers. If you have hangers to donate we would gratefully accept them! It is preferred that items be donated hanging or in bags with handles or boxes if possible, as this is easier for the volunteers and cuts down on nonrecyclable material.

05

What happens to my clothes once I donate them?

A team of fashion forward volunteers sort through all the donations and select only the best of the best; high quality, gently worn, clean, stylish items. Merchandise is prepped for display and stored until our sale date where it will then be priced and set for display.

Please note Moxie Swap is committed to providing items in exceptional condition for this event. Moxie Swap reserves the right to donate any item which does not meet this requirement to a local charity or other means of repurposing when possible.

06

What happens to the items that do not sell at the event?

Since we have chosen Wellspring as our 2016 beneficiary we would love to let the women who utilize their services take the items at the end of the event at no charge. Unfortunately, the organization needs to protect identities and therefore this is not a viable option at this time. Therefore, items which are left over will be held for a future Moxie Swap sale or donated to a charitable organization.

07

Will there be new items at the event?

Certainly!  We have many items that have been donated by the community which have new tags and never used. We also will be showcasing some boutiques with their new items at the event as well!
Some of the great brands donated include: Ann Taylor; Free People; Gap; Guess; White House Black Market; J Jill; Loft; BCBG; Bisou-Bisou; Calvin Klein; Claiborne; Eddie Bauer; J Crew; J. Lopez; Lucky; Michael Kors; Perry Ellis; Ralph Lauren green label; Timberland; Tommy Hilfiger; Vera Wang; Elle; American Eagle; Isaac Mizrahi; Croft and Barrow; Keen; Clarks; Chinese Laundry; H & M; Cache'; Limited; Esprit; Talbots; Express; and DKNY.

We also will be showcasing some boutiques with their new items at the event as well! This is a shopping experience you will NOT want to miss!

08

Do you have Men and Children items?

As this is a new event we are starting with Women items only. We are committed to making this tasteful and well run event and expect that we will grow in time.

09

What happens to the funds from the event?

Like all fundraising events and charitable organizations, Moxie Swap is incurring expenses to operate and expedite our main fundraising affair. As the clothing sales are our only source of revenue, we are relying on funds raised in conjunction with our events to cover operating and event related expenses. Fortunately, support from volunteers and local businesses enables us to keep our expenses low. We are committed to keeping expenses reasonable and generating as much profit for our non-profit beneficiary as possible. We are proud to be providing all net proceeds to our chosen beneficiary Wellspring. Wellspring is the domestic violence and sexual assault services provider for Saratoga County residents.

10

May I claim a tax deduction for the items I donate to the Moxie Swap?

Individuals donating clothing may be entitled to claim a charitable donation for their donations. To determine the value of the items you donate, we recommend talking with a tax advisor or consult a reference such as Goodwill's guide to assessing market values for used goods at www.goodwillpromo.org. We have a document for you to record your donations on the Individual Donations page of this website, however, we will not be able to assign a value to your donations. This form may also be found on our Facebook page. Please note it is up to you to document your contribution and determine the value. When you donate you will receive an acknowledgement from Wellspring that you donated for your records. By donating you will also receive a discount to shop the main event.

11

Is there a dressing room provided at the main event?

We will have a few private fitting rooms with an attendant for ease and flow.

Can I return or exchange my purchases?

Unfortunately due to the nature of the event we cannot accept returns. All sales are final.

12

13

May I donate clothing without buying? May I buy clothing without donating?

We accept donations through late March and welcome the community to shop the event regardless if they have personally donated.

14

May I donate a cash payment to support the Moxie Swap's 2016 beneficiary, Wellspring?

Yes, we welcome contributions before, during and after the main event.  Donations for Wellspring are tax deductable. Contributions to Moxie Swap are not tax deductible.

15

Will the individuals that use the services of Wellspring be able to shop the main event?

Yes, the ladies of Wellspring will be able to shop during the event and enjoy the festivities as we have a discreet plan in place to honor confidentiality and etiquette.

I have read that I can potentially receive free advertising/exposure. How does this work?

We wish to let the community know about the women behind the donations. We feel that not only is this a great way to receive more exposure, it's also a wonderful way for individuals to know more about the women that make up our community. Whether you have a business or not, we encourage you to share. We as women can benefit from supporting each other. This can't happen unless we connect and have the opportunity to know more about who we are as people.

We invite you to provide up to a two paragraph write up. We suggest you include a bit about who you are as a woman, your contact information (if wishing to promote a business/service). We also encourage a photo and would love for you to share why you chose to donate to Moxie Swap please.

Please submit your information to findyourmoxieny@gmail.com. Once we receive your information we will post it in a timely manor via Facebook. Please note your submission may be subject to edits.

I would like to help in some capacity. How do I volunteer?

We would love to have all the support and help we can receive!  We recognize that we all live busy lives and sometimes this leads to very little room for more. Thankfully, we have areas of support for any amount of time you are able to provide. We are in need of volunteers now, leading up to the main event, the day of and after. We would love to hear from you!  Please click on the button below to contact us!
